TAPANINKYLÄ VILLAGE
CLT ROW-HOUSE VILLAGE
Helsinki, Finland | 2019
Tapaninkylä village is formed from 2 and 3 storey pitched roof CLT row-houses that are joined into two, three and four unit buildings. Buildings are distributed and positioned in a way to maximise total area of south-west faced courtyard for each unit. Ingenious layout provides desired privacy for the inhabitants and offers fairly broad views in a rather dense residential area.
The new row-houses brings a fresh breeze of modern architecture to the Tapanila area in a well mannered fashion and with respect to surrounding appearance. Simple building volumes highlight the high quality of building materials and colour palette of the elevations. The playfully varying roof pitches create a strong architectural identity for the new area.
