SARA HILDÉN ART MUSEUM
COMPETITION ENTRY
Tampere, Finland | 2020
The new era for Sara Hildén museum begins when the museum moves in a near reach of city center as a new addition to Finlayson historical milieu. The new building is a composition of three simple volumes, that are touching each other only by the edge, therefore creating visual tension and forming unique public spaces enclosed by the new museum building. Within the rigid grid of historical red brick buildings a new Sara Hildén museum stands out as a new modern structure, that follows the co-ordination of the Finlayson Palace. The facade is a site cast white concrete in a rubber mould to achieve the three dimensional pattern that dissolves towards the ground. Completely smooth concrete surface near the ground level gently reflects the surrounding city structure and park.
